JJUN JUN HU, born in 1971 in Shanghai, China. She has ancestral roots in Shaoxing, Zhejiang. She engaged in painting and poetry in Beijing in 1990s and was awarded Anne-Kao Poetry Prize in 1995. She moved to New York in 1998 and relocated in Shanghai since 2006. Solo exhibitions such as Beyond the Mountain and Living with Impermanence were held for her art works. Gaoan Foundation was founded to focus on developments and donations in education, culture and Buddhism. Now she is making preparations for Ash Museum. Since 2015 when the painting series entitled Nirvana and Silence was created, she has been devoting herself to painting Buddhist statues as the art theme.
